Dear Family and Friends:

March 5-14, 2010, the College Ministry from South Hills Bible Chapel will be sending a team to Nairobi, Kenya. This team will be the first of future yearly visits and I am privileged to be a part of it. I’m not going on a vacation or an adventure, but traveling halfway across the world to encourage those in need, document our work and to reach out with the gospel and to be a light of Christ.

We will be spending a week in the Mathare Valley slums. This area has hundreds of thousands of people living in extreme poverty, hunger and filth, often times with HIV. We aim to work with a local reverend, Johnson Wambua, the International Justice Mission and Street Child International along with two other organizations. I have no doubt that it will be a life-changing experience for me, but our team hopes to positively impact the lives of those we encounter physically and spiritually.

This trip would not be possible without the support of you – my friends and family. The trip will cost around $3,000, but our church will match almost all of the funds raised, so your donation will count for more than you think. Why doesn’t the Chapel just pay for us to go? Because by raising the support, we give others the opportunity to have a personal part in a specific mission. It also affirms to the team member that it is indeed the Lord’s will to go on this mission.

Additionally, I would ask for your support in prayer. It’s not a small task to raise the money, get all the shots and prepare for an experience such as the one I am facing. You’re love and prayers will go a long way, both during the preparation and while I am in Kenya.

If you wish to support me financially, you can do so by one of two ways.
You can mail a check payable to SHBC, with my name on the memo line to: The Bible Chapel 300 Gallery Drive McMurray, PA 15317
You can follow this link and pay via Credit/Debit Card using a Secure Account through Paypal:

Thank you for your support,

David Burke and Family

No amount is too little or too large.

Thank you for your consideration.

PS – Below is a slideshow of images from my last trip to Africa. The images are a mix of scenery and people. Most of the children in the images are orphans. I was so touched by the joy that they have! I look forward to telling some amazing stories through photographs upon my return from Kenya. I also invite you to come to The Bible Chapel on Wednesday March 24, 2010 at 6:30 PM for International Ministry Week where we will highlight this trip.
