It’s here.

Finally. THE camera that will make me a better photographer.

Yes I am totally kidding but this little machine is gorgeous and I definitely Want it, but do not need it. I will continue shooting with what I have because I already have too much. I can’t tell you how many times, I have purchased something camera related, truly believing that it will make me a better photographer. The thought process before purchase goes something like this… This new gear will help me:

  • See better
  • React quicker
  • Expose more accurately
  • Give me better colors
  • Make me think less
  • Deliver better images
  • The list continues….

In all honesty there have been a few times where it does make things a tad easier, but overall…. It comes back to my shoulders. It’s up to me, to make choices, see better, expose better, react better, deliver better images…. I have the ability to do or not to do and no peace of gear is going to make that better.

The 7 mouths I feed are WAY more important than the gadgets I want. I owe it to them to be wise and improve my own abilities with what I have.

So I am writing this entry as a reminder to not spend $$ when I don’t have to. The 7 mouths I feed are WAY more important than the gadgets I want. I owe it to them to be wise and improve my own abilities with what I have.

  1. Thanks David. I may bookmark this as a reminder tool! It’s SO easy to get caught up in what I THINK I need to have, when in reality it’s a big jump to what I really NEED to have. That sure is a pretty little shiny thing though. 🙂

  2. I love this camera. I got one and rocked it at a wedding a few weeks ago. Could it be used as my only camera at a wedding? yes if it swapped lenses and I could throw a wider lens and a tele on it. Can it act as a nice tool to add to the day? yep…

I usem y oly epl1 at weddings all the time. shoot it in black and white and use it for some getting ready and candid stuff at the church.

thinking of getting a medium format digital for the portrait and intimate shots for 2012. but only my pockets will decide on that. If baby #2 decides they want to add to my family in 2012 then it will have to wait 🙂
